Oman FTA effective as of Jan. 1
President Bush issued Dec. 29 a proclamation implementing the free trade agreement between the U.S. and Oman. Effective Jan. 1, this proclamation modifies the Harmonized Tariff Schedule to reflect the duty benefits and rules of origin under the FTA, remove Oman as a beneficiary country under the Generalized System of Preferences and make technical and conforming changes in the general notes. Trade deficit hits five-year low as imports, exports drop again
