The Bureau of Industry and Security is planning to establish a Web site where sources of publicly available information on commodity classifications can be found. The BIS states that it is taking this action to enhance procedural transparency in the licensing process and to help exporters comply with U.S. export and re-export control laws.
Any company information posted to this Web site will be for informational purposes only and will not signify any additional obligations under the Export Administration Regulations. The BIS will not validate or be responsible for the accuracy of the classification information, and inclusion on the Web site will not denote BIS endorsement of any company or its employees, products or services.
The BIS is inviting companies to participate in this opportunity by providing information on where commodity classification information related to their products may be obtained. Interested companies should send the BIS an e-mail with any of the following information they would like posted.
• company name
• general description of products/services
• commodity classification information Web site address
• export control point of contact (may be a general telephone number or email address)
