KWTC announces ITAR seminar
The Kentucky World Trade Center will hold a seminar in late March entitled "Complying with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)." The program will be held at the Louisville office of Frost Brown Todd LLC. |
|
The ITAR is a group of regulations that control the export and temporary import of defense-related products, technology or services. Companies that are involved in this industry are required to register with the State Department, even if they never export their products or only make component parts for defense-related customers.
The ITAR seminar will be led by Jan de Beer and Greg Mitchell, two export attorneys with Frost Brown Todd. In addition to the presentation in Louisville, the seminar will also be videoconferenced to FBT's offices in Lexington and Cincinnati.

Japan growth plunges to a 35-year low
Japan’s government faced pressure for another stimulus package on Monday after plunging exports pushed the country, the world’s second largest economy, into its worst slump in 35 years. China’s imports, exports plunge on global recession
China’s exports fell by the most in almost 13 years as demand dried up in the U.S. and Europe and imports plunged by a record, signaling a deepening slump in the world’s third-biggest economy.

UPS helps take
No-Idling national
United Parcel Service Inc.’s charitable arm, The UPS Foundation, has donated $350,000 to take the No-Idling Campaign national with partners Earth Day Network and The Clean Air Campaign.
The program, started in Georgia by The Clean Air Campaign and designed for schools from grades K-through-12, is aimed at reducing harmful vehicle emissions around children and protecting the environment by eliminating vehicle idling at schools across the country.
“Turning off your engine while waiting to pick up your child is such a simple step to help everyone breathe cleaner air, save money on gas and reduce emissions all at the same time,” said Kathleen Rogers, president of Earth Day Network. “Vehicle idling wastes fuel and money. In fact, idling for 30 seconds uses more fuel than restarting your engine, and idling for 10 minutes a day wastes an average of 24.6 gallons of gas per year.”
