KWTC offers customized in-house international training seminars for member companies on virtually any topic related to international trade, including, but not limited to:

~ Global Sourcing & Import Procedures
This seminar will enable you to source products on a global scale and successfully import them into the United States. The session on global sourcing will lead you through the steps necessary to find and qualify potential suppliers overseas, including techniques you can use to negotiate the best landed price. You will then be taken through the entire U.S. Customs importation process, learn about U.S. duty deferral programs, and become familiar with the specific payment issues related to importing.

 
~ Export Documentation
This seminar will touch upon international shipping & logistics issues, while teaching you to accurately prepare each of the most commonly required export documents, such as the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and Shipper's Export Declaration (SED), while highlighting the importance of the bill of lading in international payment transactions. The seminar will also include an overview of Schedule B product classification, the use of International Commercial Terms of Sale (Incoterms), making the export license determination, and determining if products qualify for preferential duty rates under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

 
~ NAFTA Procedures & Rules of Origin
This workshop will take you through the structure and use of the Harmonized Tariff System, help you understand the NAFTA agreement, and explain NAFTA's specific rules of origin for determining if products qualify for preferential duty rates under the agreement. You will also learn how to obtain an advanced Customs classification ruling for your product, and the proper way to complete the NAFTA Certificate of Origin.

 
~ International Payment & Foreign Exchange Issues
This seminar covers the numerous methods of payment available for international transactions, and how to select those which are most beneficial to your company. You will understand the payment and collection process for all foreign payment options, such as letters of credit, documentary collections and export credit insurance, the risks associated with each option, and how they relate to your terms of sale. You will also learn about the banking tools which are available to eliminate the risk of currency fluctuation when making or receiving payments in foreign currencies.

 
~ Incoterms 2000
International Commercial Terms of Sale (Incoterms), most recently revised in 2000, are 13 international terms which define the contractual obligations of a buyer and a seller in an international sales contract. These terms have a major impact on a company's costs, risks, control, and ability to collect payment. This seminar will give you a thorough understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of using each term, and teach you how to apply this knowledge to your company's sales transactions.

 
~ Export Controls & Licensing Procedures
This seminar is essential for every exporter who wants to protect themselves from the high cost of non-compliance with U.S. export controls and licensing regulations. This seminar will examine the various government controls that apply to exports, with a special focus on the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).  You will understand which countries are restricted export destinations, and learn to classify your products using the appropriate Export Control Classification Number (ECCN).

 
~ International Travel Safety & Proprietary Data Protection
This seminar is designed to teach employees safe travel habits, which can save your company from loosing money, time and proprietary information. Topics include jet lag, electrical voltages, vaccinations, passport/visa issues, packing, hotel security, medical insurance, driving overseas, theft and information protection, kidnap/hijacking survival, and general safety tips. Commercial espionage and data protection measures will also be discussed.
