1. What is the Kentucky World Trade Center?
The Kentucky World Trade Center (KWTC) is a non-profit membership organization helping Kentucky companies import, export, and establish overseas operations. The KWTC offers counseling, market research services, translation assistance, trade education seminars, international events and programs, cross-cultural training, trade missions, and referrals to local international service providers. With offices in Lexington, Louisville, and now Murray, the KWTC is a leading provider of trade services in the Commonwealth.
2. How is the KWTC different from the US Department of Commerce?
The KWTC works closely with the US Department of Commerce and other trade associations in KY. One of the major differences is that we are able to offer assistance in importing as well as exporting goods and services. If you need assistance in finding suppliers overseas and need to know the procedures and regulations, contact the KWTC. We also offer trade education seminars, international trade missions and trade delegations to Kentucky.
3. If I am interested in a trade program, can I request that the KWTC host such a program?
Yes, the KWTC events calendar is posted on our website. You can contact the Trade Specialist in each office to let them know if you are interested in a particular program. We will organize a program if there are enough people interested. We also have a customized in-house training program where the KWTC will do an educational training program at your facility for your staff. Price will be quoted as necessary.
4. From where do you receive your funding?
Funding sources include the Lexington/Fayette Urban County Government, Louisville Metro, grants and membership dues. Our unique public-private partnership works to advance the global competitiveness of Kentucky companies and allows the KWTC to provide professional services at affordable rates.
