Exel Implements Global Transportation Management System

May 16, 2008

Supply chain services provider Exel announced that it has implemented a transportation management technology system to provide its customers with global shipment visibility. The supply chain command and control (SC3) system is a Web-based application through which Exel customers can manage inventories, shipment lead times, delivery dates, freight costs and lane volume forecasts. The system also alerts users to disruptions in the supply chain. For companies using multiple carriers, SC3 shows progress in one single view across all transportation partners. Exel, a unit of Germany's Deutsche Post headquartered in Westerville, Ohio, said the technology uses an Oracle-based system that helps users manage all aspects of the transportation process and is also configurable to local practices and standardized for global information. Exel is also a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork.
