The second round of negotiations for the creation of a free-trade zone between Ukraine and the European Union is taking place this week in Brussels, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry press service reported. The negotiations, which wind up on Friday, involve three working groups: trade in goods and services; corporate foreign investments, capital and payments; and trade rules. The negotiators will discuss commodity origin rules, customs issues, technical regulations, standards as well as sanitary and phytosanitary measures. Provisions for the creation of a free-trade zone will be one of the components of an upcoming broader agreement between Ukraine and the EU. The first round of negotiations began in February.
