UPS Gets Business Journals Brand Excellence Honor

Louisville's largest employer, United Parcel Service Inc., has received Amercian Brand Excellence Awards from City Business Journals Network. Atlanta-based UPS, which operates one of its largest hubs in Louisville and bases its airlines division here, won in the business services category. The companies were chosen by more than 1,700 business owners and managers of small and mid-sized firms that participated in CBJN's annual proprietary study as the brands that best meet the needs of their businesses. Charlotte, N.C.-based CBJN, an organization of 66 newspapers across the country, is a subsidiary of Business First parent Amercian City Business Journals. Apple Inc., which won the technology category, also was named the grand prize winner. The other categories and winners are: MasterCard (financial/insurance), Staples (retail), Verizon (telecommunications) and Southwest Airlines (travel).
