E.On Headquarters Receives Energy Star Designation

March 12, 2008

E.On U.S. Center, the 22-story office tower that serves as the headquarters of utility company E.On U.S. LLC, has received the Energy Star designation from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The designation is given to commercial office properties that use about 35 percent less energy than average buildings. About 3,200 buildings have earned the designation since 1999. E.On U.S. Center, located at 220 W. Main St. in downtown Louisville, is owned and managed by Norfolk, Va.-based Harbor Group International LLC. Its anchor tenant is E.On U.S. LLC, the parent company of Louisville Gas and Electric Co. and Kentucky Utilities Co. "As we tell our customers, using energy more efficiently carries direct benefits in terms of reducing greenhouse gases and lowering energy costs," Vic Staffieri, chairman and CEO of E.On U.S., said in a news release. "We are proud to be the building's anchor tenant and of the building's staff for achieving such an honor, and intend to seek certification for the buildings we own."
