The Kentucky Association of Manufacturers recently announced the latest in a series of branded industry advocacy initiatives. Under MarketKentucky, KAM plans to help the state's manufacturing industry market products locally and globally. "We are making progress in helping our members lower their costs and hire better workers, but we also need to help them find new markets for their products so our industry's contribution to the state gross product continues to grow," KAM President and CEO Jim LeMaster said in a news release. Manufacturing saw a $1 billion increase from 2005 to 2006, contributing $27 billion to the state's gross product. KAM officials hope their effort to connect members with new markets will help the industry expand even faster. "As our productivity and efficiency continue to increase, there's no reason why we can't surpass our peak $29 billion in output reached in 1997," LeMaster said. He noted that KAM has expertise in marketing consulting, but the association also plans to form partnerships with other organizations and businesses to provide resources for members, similar to the association's other initiatives. The association's other branded initiatives are ProsperousKentucky, ProductiveKentucky, FreedomKentucky, SmartKentucky, HealthyKentucky, HonestKentucky and CleanKentucky.
