Toyota Motor Corp. introduced the Venza crossover vehicle, which will be built at the company's plant in Georgetown, Ky., at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit today. Toyota is investing $413 million in the plant to enable it to produce the Venza, which is a blend of a sedan and sport-utility vehicle and will seat five people. The 2009 model of the vehicle will start being produced this fall. To view the Venza, click here. The Georgetown plant will be the only facility producing the Venza. It also makes the Camry sedan, Camry Hybrid sedan, Avalon sedan and Solara coupe, and V6 and four-cylinder engines and engine components. Toyota has invested a total of $5.5 billion in the Georgetown plant, which was established in 1986 and began production in 1988. At 7.5 million square feet, it is Toyota's largest manufacturing plant in North America.
