Dedicated to excellence in shipping high-quality hay, Charles T. Creech, Inc. is the solution for all of your hay and bedding needs in the Bluegrass region as well as nationwide and overseas.

Charles T. Creech, Inc. (CTC) has experienced steady growth under the direction of Charles T. (Tom) Creech, its Owner and President. Since 1983, CTC has supplied leading Bluegrass area horse farms with the consistent high-quality hay that they require for their high performance Thoroughbred horses.

Over 10 years ago, CTC expanded into the export market. We simply took advantage of an opportunity. Since we had foreign owners of horse farms in Kentucky, we followed the trail back to their horse operations overseas. At first business was very slow, but after a few years, our consistent high-quality and increasing name recognition began to take hold, and sales leaped. Our top performing markets include Hong Kong, Ireland, England, Denmark, Bahrain, Oman, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. There is never a dull moment with the challenge and excitement of supplying prestigious stables such as H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai, U.A.E.

Every year, individuals from over thirty countries travel to the Commonwealth to purchase Kentucky-bred Thoroughbreds at Keeneland & Fasig-Tipton. Twenty-five percent of the annual sales of Kentucky Thoroughbreds are exports. Indeed, Kentucky Thoroughbred exports constitute over 50% of the total value of U.S. horse exports.

In November 2002, KTOB implemented a program to develop relationships with emerging Thoroughbred breeding & racing industries worldwide. These emerging markets provide high-growth, sustainable exports for Kentucky breeders most negatively impacted by the Mare Reproductive Loss Syndrome. One constraint to Kentucky's export growth lies in the level of development of a country's breeding & racing program. Our goal is to provide all serious horsemen and women the tools that enable them to achieve advanced growth, and maintain the highest levels of racing, breeding and training standards through a series of technical seminars.

KTOB has developed new, dynamic markets for Kentucky breeders in Mexico, Chile, and western Canada valued over $7 million. Ongoing activities in Asia, South America and Eastern Europe position Kentucky breeders as principal suppliers to these emerging racing industries. Such efforts enrich the sport of Thoroughbred racing, and reinforce, as a brand, “Kentucky-bred” as the finest racehorses in the world. It is but one example of our industry's drive to retain Kentucky's prominence as the global Thoroughbred marketplace and Horse Capital of the World.

In Louisville, SCI has been in business for more than 60 years as a major producer of catalysts for the chemical and petrochemical industries. Also located in Louisville is SCI's Rheologicals Business Unit, which manufactures additives and rheological controls for the paint and cosmetics industries. Outside of Kentucky SCI produces a wide range of products, from environmental catalysts, moisture control products for the pharmaceutical industry and products that filter impurities from edible cooking oils. SCI is a member of Süd-Chemie (SC) Group, a global organization with more than 60 affiliate companies in 26 countries and 5,000 employees (600 of which are in Louisville).

One-fourth of the SC global organization's sales come from its U.S.-based companies. About 1/3 of these sales comprise exports to foreign countries throughout North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Virtually every major chemical and petrochemical company in the world uses SC catalysts in some of its processes, and SC provides the catalysts used in the manufacture of 70-90% of the world's precursors for polystyrene and polyethylene compounds that are in turn used in plastics and coatings applications. The company has succeeded in a very competitive industry by competing on customer focus, quality and outstanding technical assistance.

In June 2003 SCI was honored with the Presidential Green Chemistry Award after its Italian affiliates and Louisville R&D teams collaborated to create solid catalysts that use 16-20 times less water than traditional manufacturing processes without releasing nitrate effluents or nitrogen oxide. In addition to the obvious critical benefits for the environment, in the future this new process technology may enable construction of catalyst manufacturing plants in regions where water issues have prevented such operations in the past.

In 2003, the company began the challenging project of transferring and setting up full production capabilities for the MS2000 product in their Chinese subsidiary. The project is targeted for completion by the end of 2004 with no negative job impact to the Kentucky operation due to continued product growth in other lines. In fact, a new state of the art manufacturing center was recently completed that increased the size of the Kentucky-based operations to over 300,000 square feet.
