On Monday, February 25, The Kentucky World Trade Center and the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors partnered to deliver a successful training seminar to roughly fifty of LBAR’s member realtors. The afternoon session focused on business and cultural practices of India and Pakistan, and attendees were treated to an authentic Indian lunch before watching the presentations of the two speakers.
Ajay Gupta and Dr. M. Saleem Seyal, both highly successful in their respective fields, spoke at the event. Gupta is a native of India and is the founder and president of Housewarmings, a fireplace and interior furnishings store in Lexington. Seyal is from Pakistan and is a physician with River Cities Cardiology of Jeffersonville, IN.
The event garnered excellent feedback from both participants and attendees, according to Kay Wright, chair of LBAR’s International/Cultural Diversity Taskforce. “Our speakers did an excellent job of dispelling cultural myths and enhancing the ‘world’ knowledge of our Realtor participants. Once again, we learned to look at each of our clients as individuals with unique histories and common concerns in finding suitable homes for their families. The insights gained are invaluable as we continue to embrace our roles as citizens of the world.”
The seminar on February 25 is part of a quarterly series of cross-cultural trainings offered by the KWTC and LBAR. The next session will be on Wednesday, August 20 and will focus on Chinese and Japanese culture.
